NYSC mobilization by Abdul Jari a Student of UDUS

   The mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) - successful bath C members have been mobilized I and have entered into their various designated campuses across the federation on 4th November. The batch C members just like any other will stay in camp for 21 days (three weeks), after which they will be posted to various places where they will serve the nation.
    The NYSC was instituted by the then Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gawon in 1970s immediately after the Nigerian Civil (Biafara) war. The main aim of the service (NYSC) was not serve Nigerian alone, talk less of generating money to the federal government as it was done this year by charging each perspective corp member 4000 naira, but to reunite Nigerians that were divided as a result of war.
    The NYSC yielded a tangible result. Nigerians are been posted to a different region not their own or the region where their school is located in order for them to mix and interact with other people of this country so as to increase national cohesion.
   Normally, what the corp call "allowee" allowance is giving to corp members in order to maintain and sustain them in the course of discharging their national assignment, though the money giving/given to them is not meant to serve as a salary, or entitlement, it is just to maintain their basics.
   The tradition of mobilization or call up as it is known is usually through various higher institutions across the country. The school will send the list of successful graduates that are below 30 years and are not married as the list of its potential corp members. This batch C was different, it was online, it was students that submitted themselves, it was stress free against the long cues in other batches, and it was not free. Normally, the mobilization use to be free, but this year, the sum of 4000 naira was charged per student. That brought a lot of mix feelings, the House of Representatives had to intervene before the matter finally settles.
     When it come to camping, for some it use to be exiting. This is because, there are different people, cultures, and a more sense of freedom to do what ever you want to do. Already there are reports that in previous batch of NYSC before 2009 when crisis and bombing of camps started, upon entering any NYSC camp on the first day, sets and different types  up Condom are distributed to each and every Corp member to enjoy him self.  There are also reports that there is every night is every batch of camping that is called "fire Night", that Night is meant for having sex as much as you want. From the time when insurgents started bombing NYSC camps, that culture was then abolish in virtually all campuses, especially the ones located in the North
    The NYSC is also meant to teach young graduates the travails of life. Therefore, let each and every corp member prepare himself against the challenges and shown away all bad and immoral practices.
